My story — and where I'm taking this next

Welcome, and thank you for being here. I wanted the very first thing I published on this site to be something more personal than market stats or listings — so before any of that, here's how I got here, and where I'm trying to go.

The long way around

I started working at 15, at a grocery store. After that, I spent 13 years in a job most people never think about: fuelling the freighters and cargo ships that move through our waterways. It was steady work, but it ran on 12-hour swing shifts — two weeks of 8 p.m. to 8 a.m., then two weeks of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. That kind of schedule takes a toll on you, the way it would on anyone. Somewhere in those long shifts, I knew it wasn't the end of my story. It wasn't what I was meant to do forever.

The spark came from my cousin Wes, who works out of the same brokerage I do now. He'd tell me how things were going as he got started in real estate, and the more he talked, the more it just made sense to me. I've always been a people person — but I genuinely love the other side of this work too: the numbers, the research, the problem-solving. Real estate is one of the few careers that asks for both at once.

So I started my licensing courses while I was still working full-time. The plan was simple: build up steady, consistent business first, then make the jump. Life had other ideas. Before I was ready, I was let go from that job — and just like that, real estate wasn't my someday, it was my right now.

Sometimes the door you didn't choose to walk through turns out to be the right one.

Looking back, getting pushed off the fence was the best thing that could have happened. That first full year in real estate turned out to be more successful than any year I'd had at the old job — and far more fulfilling.

A little about me

I'm Windsor through and through. In fact, I've only ever lived in one house — my parents bought it six months before I was born, and I bought it from them when I was 25. There's something fitting about a guy who sells homes for a living owning the very one he grew up in. It's a big part of why I take this work so personally: I know exactly what a home can mean to a family, because mine has meant everything to me.

Outside of work, you'll usually find me on a golf course, on the ice playing hockey, or somewhere with family and friends. I'm also a former provincial cornhole champion — these days I keep it strictly backyard-league, but I'll still take the bragging rights. All summer long I'm up to something — a free weekend is a rare thing around here, and honestly, I like it that way.

How I work with people

My job is to take the stress out of one of the biggest decisions you'll ever make. That means honest advice, plain explanations, and the patience to make sure you feel confident — not rushed. The people-person in me genuinely cares how this goes for you; the numbers side makes sure the decision holds up.

  • Straight answers — even when they're not what you were hoping to hear.
  • Real local knowledge of streets, schools, commutes, and value.
  • Clear communication from the first conversation to closing day.
  • The research and problem-solving to back up every recommendation.

Where I'm headed

My goals aren't complicated. I want to grow this business to the point where my wife and I are genuinely comfortable — not filthy rich, just secure enough that financial stress simply isn't part of our lives. We're planning to start a family soon, and I want to build that security now so our future kids have a smoother road than we did.

I really believe that's one of the most important jobs any of us has: to make the next generation's life a little easier than our own. We learn so much from our parents and grandparents — it's on us to take that and be just a bit better for whoever comes next. Helping families find the right home, and build a little security while they're at it, is a pretty meaningful way to spend a career doing exactly that.

This site is part of the plan. I'll use it to share what I'm seeing in the Windsor-Essex market, answer the questions I get asked most, and be useful whether you're buying next month or just wondering what your home is worth. If any of this resonates with you, I'd love to connect — even if a move is a long way off. Reach out anytime.
